Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer and songwriter for several years. She was raised by her mom throughout the USA she was subject to many racial slurs that made her feel being unwelcome. When she went to an event at school and was given high praise for her singing when she was in the ninth grade she began to gain confidence. This not only increased confidence in herself, but it also changed the direction she wanted to go in her career. In the year 22 she was able to graduate from at the Julliard School of New York. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was titled You've got Mail. Her greatest break came in her role as The Lady of The Lake as she appeared in the original Broadway adaptation of Spamalot. The show won her the Tony Award and received great praise for the performance. The following year, she was cast in the ABC series Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider acceptance for the role. As a well-known singer, she has also released a single as well as an extended show. She is an activist who is a tireless advocate to promote LGBT equality.
